Milestone Update: My Book Release! :)

I am excited to announce that my book is officially available on Amazon.com!

My goal of these posts has always been to be just as candid about my failures as I am about my successes. It’s been a year and four days since I posted about wanting to have an Amazon #1 Bestseller within a year. Well… a year and four days later the book isn’t even “officially” out yet. (You read that right. I’ve been advertising my book to be available on November 17th. It is actually online now and so the readers of this blog are finding out about it a day ahead of everyone else.)

Having just read the post about my bestseller aspirations for the first time since I posted it, I smiled at my naivety but admired my ambition. What I thought to be a hard but very doable goal at the time did not even come close to fruition. The primary reason is the fact I initially intended to release my book 5 months ago. But despite my prolific “How to publish books independently” Google searches, I wasn’t prepared for the many issues that needed to be addressed if I wanted to create something that did my vision justice.

Considering advice from a mentor (and the fact I wasn’t ready), I chose to push the release back to November. Nevertheless I am happy with my decision. When thinking of all the changes I’ve made to the book since June, I see a far more evolved product.  The thought of releasing what I had back then would be embarrassing in comparison.

Now for the positive…

It’s been nine months since my first meeting with an editor and not only is my book available but I have had some pretty awesome individuals read it for early reviews and have gotten great feedback. One man saw so much value in my book that he has asked me to integrate the book into his non-profit’s curriculum. Another guy that read the book offered to make a short documentary on my journey going forward. The founder of Under 30: Following the Vision has offered to allow me to have my book at the magazine’s annual award ceremony for top entrepreneurs under 30 and I have been invited to speak at schools multiple times. This is all before my book has been released. I can only imagine where it will take me next. I certainly do know what my goals for it are and I’ll be posting about them soon (book and non-book related).

I have met so many great people on this journey that believe in me and my vision. Thank you to those who followed this blog early on and thank you everyone who has joined the journey along the way. Knowing there were people who were aware of my goals helped me stay accountable in achieving them. That, in fact, is what this website is for. Because of you I left the country for the first time and wrote a book.

In the meantime, if you would like to support my book check out my book’s official website for details on what it is about and where to find it on Amazon.com.

Also as a thank you, I would like to offer a free copy of my book to the first 3 individuals who ask in the comments below. Please only do so if you will seriously read it. To be sure check out the book’s website before making your request.

Most of my book updates will be on my Instagram and Facebook accounts. Please follow those accounts.

Milestone Achieved!

Okay, so the book I have been working on has been sent off to an editor for a week now. This is HUGE for me. This will be the first time someone takes a look at my complete first draft. I’m incredibly anxious to see what her feedback will be. Hopefully I am at least on the right path.  I am a confident person in most things that I do but am very aware that audiences may receive work in ways completely different than the creator imagined. It is difficult to convey ideas to the world as perfectly as they are conjured in the mind. I hope that she loves it…but we will see…

Side-note/NEWS: The last month of my life has had a few unexpected events, the most relevant being:

  1. I did not expect to be this close to the end of my book so fast
  2. The reason I am so close to being finished my first book is that I am now writing a second book that I believe is more important in many ways and certainly more urgent. Consequently, I chose to “cram” the rest of the first book (for a lack of better words). I will elaborate on this second book very soon!

Auf Wiedersehen!
